This was a revival during the deadly COVID-19 wave along with economic crises; in the first half of 2024, Sri Lanka witnessed the arrival of over 1 million foreign tourists to the isle, which amounted to a 61.7 % increase compared to the same period of 2023; it added nearly $1.55 billion in this same period, showing recording a rise in revenue of 77.9 %.

Further ahead, airline capacity is also increasing as several new airlines are due to launch, further propelling tourist numbers.
In addition to this, Sri Lanka has recently achieved global recognition as it has been awarded Best International Tourism Board at the Global Tourism Awards 2024, which genuinely reflects promotional success through international eyes.
